MOLYULLAH EASTER SPORTS A traditional day of fun with horse events, woodchoping and a host of novelty events

Organisers of this sports day do not lack imagination or a sense of the ridiculous.  How else could you explain events like Crash the Rat, Ladies Gumboot Throwing, Nail Driving, Married Ladies Race, and a No Wheels Skateboard Race?   The more traditional woodchop, tractor pull and horse events bring some normality to the day!

Speed, skill and balance are the ingredients needed in Flag Racing This ever-popular woodchop always attracts great interest There's always lots of fun for the kids. Hope the Easter eggs have been well and truly digested!
The Skateboard Race! No wheels, three at a time and co-ordination critical - whoops! Junior Nail Driving appropriately sponsored by Carters Benalla Change of passengers at Molyullah Junction - "all aboard the Molyullah Express"
Harry Ferguson Tractor Club members Bob Mackrell (right) and Murray Johnson, with the club's Massey Ferguson display. Two very knowledgeable enthusiasts. The Vintage Tractor Pull. Put on by the Vintage Tractor Club. The further the tractor goes, the weight moves towards the front over the ground plate, making the pull harder. Furthest pull wins! The Vearing family, from left Jane, Paul, Noel and baby Jayden, and Faye. Noel got right into the "colourful" mood of the day!

Russell Johnson, an Atlanta Olympian showjumper and his horse Cruising Downunder, won the Pat Hearn Memorial open jumping competition at the Molyullah Sports Day on Easter Monday.
Russell completed the nine gates without a fault as did Benalla's Russell Hearn.
The two men then had to compete against each other in what you might say was a jump off.  This was held over a reduced number of gates.
Russell Johnson won on this occasion and was presented with an impressive aqua Molyullah sash for himself and a ribbon for Cruising Downunder from Mrs Hearn, and received prize money of $120.00.
Russell Hearn, on Luxenburg, took out 2nd place, 3rd place went to Emma Smith on Moonstone, and 4th place went to Hannah Ramage on G.E. Rhinegold.
The event is sponsored every year by Bernadette and Russell Hearn.
