The weather was hot, but many punters stayed cool and comfortable in the shade of the oak trees Musical entertainment was provided by Maurie Milani and The Rumour (alias John). Both performers hail from Wangaratta

And for some girlie fun . . . let's have a netball shoot-out

And for the running of the feature event of the afternoon - the Pat Rice & Hawkins Open Handicap . . .

 And the prize - six drinks from the bar to share with friends and runners-up. Carmen, the prize winner, is second from the right
Calling the action as it was telecast around the land Then a celebratory dance to the music of Jimmy Barnes and Cold Chisel - Khe-Sanh! - performed by Maurie and John
Leaving the mounting yard, number 5 "Scold". Not behaving well and needing a scolding! . . . and as they round the turn it's . . . . . . and as they move into the home straight it's . . .
Reaching the finish line . . .   . . . it's . . . it's . . . it's . . . . . .
