"Stonnington Cares" about drought affected rural people
City people helping out in the drought. That's Stonnington Cares, an innovative new city - country Rotary Club partnership offering real help.
The project was launched at a Family Fun Day at Benalla Racecourse on Sunday 19 October as city and country folk got together for a good time. |
Rotary Clubs within the City of Stonnington in Melbourne's inner south east have joined forces with the Rotary Club of Benalla to assist drought affected people in the Benalla district.
Stonnington Cares was initiated by a phone call in January to Peter Schneider, President of the Rotary Club of Prahran. Peter has since secured the support of other clubs within the City of Stonnington - the Rotary Clubs of Malvern, St Kilda, Chadstone/East Malvern and Toorak.
Kim Scanlon, a Benalla Rotarian and Drought Coordinator with the Benalla Rural City Council, has been at the forefront of the project's development. The project is being strongly supported by the City of Stonnington and the Benalla Rural City Council.
